I was hoping that some of you gents and gentles can help me out on a career path to the Biomedical Engineering field. I’m a Stationary Engineer in the Local 39 Union and have completed the apprenticeship program. During my 6 years of experience I had the pleasure of working in Hotels, Hospitals, High rises, and currently a Data Center. Out of all those building types, I seem to be drawn to the hospital as challenging as they are. But instead of going back into health care as a Stationary Engineer, I was hoping to get into the Biomed field. Any help that you can give me would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for the help. Cheers!
Thanks for the post. I don't know your background so I can say that there are several routes. First you could go to a college and get the degree. This takes time, money, and you might already have a forumal educations. Otherwise if you have had some experience working in a hospital maintenance department you could try there and work you way up. Many times the maintenance department will work on items that could be consider gateways to the biomed field. For example: beds, nurse call, tube systems, and communactions.
