American College of Clinical Engineering (ACCE). Welcome to the World Wide Web home of the American College of Clinical Engineering (ACCE). Founded in 1991, ACCE is committed to enhancing the profession of clinical engineering. With members in the United States and abroad, the ACCE is the only internationally recognized professional society for clinical engineers.

Our Mission[]

  • To establish a standard of competence and to promote excellence in clinical engineering practice.
  • To promote safe and effective application of science and technology in patient care.
  • To define the body of knowledge on which the profession is based.
  • To represent the professional interests of clinical engineers."[1]

History[]

In 2007, Health-care Technology Certification Commission (HTCC) who are the US Board of Examiners for Clinical Engineering Certification and sponsors ACCE added the Abet creditials to its eligibility process before obtaining certification. Many ACCE Members are also board members for HTCC. In 2009, Health-care Technology Certification Commission (HTCC) decided to remove the option "BS or higher degree in related fields of science or mathematics" This option will be removed in 2011. The last year for applications using this option will be 2010. [2]
